We think it's important to set a good example with regards to our environment so we've taken steps to reduce our impact on our ecosystems. Below are some examples of what we've done...
Energy-Saving Lighting - the bulbs in our building are now either Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) or Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). We turn them off when not needed, too.
Teaching Good Habits - all the children are encouraged to help out in our garden where we are growing vegetables, fruit and herbs.
Recycled - we've switched to recycled loo rolls, tissues and kitchen paper.
Eco-Clean - our bin bags are bio-degradable and where possible we use eco-friendly cleaning products.
In Touch with Nature - There's a minibeast box for children to find garden creatures and we also have a bird feeder in the garden, so the children can watch wildlife come to them.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - the amount of waste we dispose of has been cut down and we recycle all our paper, card and plastics.
Composting - all food scraps are composted in our new composting machine which turns fruit and vegetable peelings and dry bits of bread and crackers into compost for our garden! We then give this compost to our local allotment residents who, in turn, give us some seeds for the children to grow!
Efficient Printing - we no longer print brochures or prospectuses to help reduce our impact on trees. What is printed is done on an efficient EcoTank printer.
